Moving Company Helps Student Deliver Desks to Less Fortunate September 28, 2020 Northern Virginia high school junior, Colby Samide, builds free desks for underprivileged kids. In late August, he used his summer vacation and his passion for woodworking to begin a community service of helping less fortunate students in Loudoun and Fairfax Counties with the shortage of desks for distance learning. “It’s sad knowing there are kids that can’t afford them,” – Colby Samide On September 28, MOSS Building & Designin Chantilly, VA partnered with Colby’s non-profit, Desks for Distance, to hold a day-long “BuildAPalooza” that built fifty desks for distance learners by providing warehouse space, labor, and materials. Other participating sponsors were: Lowe’s Home Improvement that donated building materials and supplies, Johnny Ray’s Sultry Soul Food, who brought lunch for the hungry volunteers (his green beans are amazing), and MG Moving Services that handled the moving, transportation and delivery of 30 desks to ten Loudoun County schools from Sterling Middle School to Lovettsville Elementary. There were also many volunteers who brought their love, time and energy to this worthy cause. This young man truly embodies the spirit of helpful giving, and MG Moving Services offered to assist him as he strives for his goal of delivering over 300 desks.
